Who we are

Quoteio™ is a free building cost estimator for UK homeowners, operated by Aposlo Studios Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Quoteio is a trademark of Aposlo Studios Ltd. You can contact us at leads@quoteio.co.uk.

What information we collect

When you use the estimator, we collect:

  • Project details — project type, dimensions, rooms, spec level, and any windows / doors / landscaping items you select.
  • Contact details — your name, email address, postcode, and (optionally) phone number, which you provide on the final step.
  • Calculated estimate — the cost range we generate from your inputs.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser user-agent, and timestamps, captured automatically by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.

If you click "Enquire" on a builder card, we also pass your name, email, phone (if provided), postcode, project type and your message to the chosen builder, and keep a copy in our database for fraud and dispute reasons.

How we use it

  • To calculate and email you an estimate (if you request that option).
  • To match you with appropriate local builders if you choose to enquire.
  • To detect abuse (rate limiting, spam filtering).
  • To improve Quoteio — we look at aggregated, anonymised usage patterns to refine our pricing data.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your contact details with third-party advertisers. Builders only see your details if you actively click "Enquire" on their card.

Lawful basis (UK GDPR)

  • Consent — for sending you a builder enquiry on your behalf and for any optional follow-up emails (kitchen / bathroom supplier recommendations). You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interest — for generating your estimate and storing it for our own records (operating the service).
  • Legal obligation — for record-keeping requirements (tax, dispute resolution).

Where we store your data

Your data is stored in Supabase databases hosted in the European Union (London region). Email is sent via standard SMTP. We use Vercel as our hosting provider; Vercel's edge network may temporarily process requests from data centres outside the EU, but no application data is stored there.

How long we keep it

Lead records are retained for 12 months by default, then deleted unless you have an active enquiry with a builder. Builder enquiry records are retained for 24 months for dispute and fraud purposes. You can request earlier deletion at any time (see "Your rights" below).

Cookies and local storage

We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used and Google Ads to measure our adverts. Both use cookies, and they stay off unless you press Accept on our cookie banner. Until then, Google receives only cookieless signals that cannot identify you. You can change your choice at any time:

We also use first-party browser local storage, which never leaves your device, to:

  • Remember your cookie choice.
  • Auto-save your estimator progress so you can refresh or return without losing it (cleared after 7 days), and your last estimate (cleared after 30 days).
  • Remember the postcode you last checked, so local prices show when you come back.
  • Keep you logged in if you sign up as a builder.

You can clear this at any time by clearing your browser’s storage for this site.

Postcode lookups

Local prices are worked out in your browser from the first half of your postcode. When you submit an estimate, our server looks your postcode up on postcodes.io (free Office for National Statistics data) to find your council area for builder matching. Only the postcode is sent.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct any inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to our processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, email leads@quoteio.co.uk with the email address you used on Quoteio. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent version. We won't materially change how we use existing data without notice.
